Cutting The Cheese

… Out of my diet, that is.

For a month.

I have an inkling that cheese is actually one of the most addictive substances on Earth. If not, it’s certainly the most widespread addiction. Not without reason, either. It’s a source of calcium and protein, it fills you up and it tastes really really good. Also, it’s amazing. And varied.

On the downside, cheese is really fatty and is (according to some sources) possibly to blame for my slimy throat. So starting this thursday, I’m not having a bite of cheese for a whole month. It’s going to be tough, and I’m a bit freaked out by the idea of cheeseless pizza, but it’ll also be interesting. I might get the Uncheese Cookbook and try some stuff, too. Who knows?

I’ll make a video to announce it on Youtube as well. Watch out for that.

The idea itself makes me hyperventilate. I NEED cheese! …which probably goes to prove that you are right. Good luck.

Thank you, I will need it. :)

My first big challenge was on the first day, when I noticed that we still had feta cheese in the fridge. Second big challenge came on the SECOND day when we went to get bagels at Elephants and Bagels (shit place for coffee. Don’t ever buy coffee from them nor Elephant House) and almost every single variant had cheese in it. I was like “Mmmmm, chicken pesto. I want me some of that.” and then I remembered that pesto has Parmesan in it. D’oh!

I would try to limit MILK instead of just ELIMINATING cheese. I constantly suffer from allergies (hay fever/dust/mold), so having reduced my dairy intake I no longer get that yucky post nasal drip with a mucosy cough.

    YAY~!

I have very low intake of dairy anyway, most of it coming from the odd bowl of bran or cappuccinos when I’m having coffee outside of home. I’m also reducing dairy in general during this month, just because it kind of goes hand in hand, but the main focus is just as an experiment to see how well I do at it. I’m a bit strange like that. ^_^
