stop the torture !!!!

having lived in Switzerland for 5 years, your £30 a kilo is pennies compared to what I have to pay for my bi-annual steak fest & no Angus either.

coming from a farming family W Scotland, we used to run 5 or 6 of these black beauties every year, just for personal consumption.

if you ever get the chance, you can try Boisdales in Victoria (Eccleston St) ... now they do an Angus Stk to die for.

will be trying your method on my next venture into steakdom , around Xmas.

Cheers

First Coast gave me my first (and only) proper gourmet vegetarian restaurant experience, and they've also given me some of the most delicious memories of carnivorous eating of my life. The fact that you get both at the same place actually baffles me a bit.

Another thing about First Coast is that they'll go with the flow a lot. I once got Skate there for 11 quid because the people who supplied their fish had caught some by accident, and they kind of just added it as an unplanned special for the day. Obviously, the chef cooked it perfectly.

And about the steak, I highly recommend it. You don't HAVE to wrap them, but they go a bit too brown and dry for my tastes if you don't. Let me know how it goes if you try it!

I've never heard of cooking steak this way before but will definately give it a try. We had venison steaks last night and they were so tasty.

I agree about First Coast, I miss living in Edinburgh - it was one of our favourite restaurants. the wine there is also great.
